Asheboro, NC – Aspiring filmmakers, writers, and actors in Randolph County now have a new platform to collaborate and bring their creative visions to life. Filmmakers Tremayne Goff and Ty Brueilly have launched Third Thursday Thinktanks, a monthly gathering designed to connect individuals in the local film industry, encourage networking, and cultivate new projects. These events provide a much-needed space for artistic exchange in a community that has often lacked consistent opportunities for independent creatives.
A Hub for Local Filmmakers
Brueilly, who has spent the past two decades building his artistic career outside of Asheboro, recognized the need for ongoing support and collaboration in his hometown. Alongside Goff, he created Third Thursday Thinktanks as a solution to the isolation many artists feel when trying to pursue film locally.
“I’ve had to take my work to bigger cities for years just to get recognition, and every time I came back, I struggled to find the same level of support here. The creative scene in Asheboro has been very one-sided, and too often, when new talent emerges, they don’t receive the nurturing needed to stay and grow,” said Brueilly. “This is why we’re launching Third Thursday Thinktanks—to build a consistent, supportive artistic community.”
Goff, a filmmaker with a deep passion for storytelling and collaboration, echoed the sentiment. “I hope that we can provide a space where creatives in Asheboro can find a real community. This event will introduce people to one another, spark creative partnerships, and highlight the incredible talent we have in this city. There’s no reason we can’t build something amazing right here.”
Event Details
The Third Thursday Thinktanks are free and open to anyone interested in filmmaking, whether they are beginners, seasoned professionals, or simply film enthusiasts. These gatherings will rotate locations each month, offering different environments for inspiration and discussion.
- Next Event: March 20, 2025
- Location: Heart’s Core Art Store, 200 Worth Street – Suite F, Asheboro, NC
Opportunities for Growth
The monthly thinktanks will serve as brainstorming sessions where attendees can share ideas, receive feedback, and find collaborators for future projects. Writers can pitch scripts, actors can discover new roles, and directors can connect with cinematographers and editors.
The initiative builds on the success of past film-related events organized by Brueilly, including the Mightier Than The Sword Awards at the Sunset Film Festival. Now, instead of waiting for an annual event, local artists will have ongoing opportunities to meet and work together throughout 2025.
“We’ve already seen a strong response from the local community,” said Brueilly. “Our goal is to keep this momentum going so that Asheboro becomes known for more than just being a small town—we want it to be a hub for creative talent.”
How to Get Involved
No membership or long-term commitment is required to attend Third Thursday Thinktanks—participants are welcome to come as they please. Whether someone is looking to refine their script, find an acting role, or simply get inspired, these events are a welcoming space for all.
